Mary Frye Scurry Wise, 83, of Florence, S.C., passed away Sunday, December 18, 2011 at McLeod Regional Medical Center. She was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late William Frank and Isadore Guerry Frye. Mrs. Wise is predeceased by her husbands, Thaddeus Bethea Scurry and Joseph Barney Wise; two young children, Cynthia and Cathy Scurry; five brothers, Forston Frye, McLeon Frye, Sidney Frye, George Frye and Benjamin Frye; one sister, Ruth Lee Frye Welch. She is survived by her children, Thaddeus Bethea "Ted" Scurry (Debbie) of Florence, S.C.; James William "Butch" Scurry (Robyn) of Florence, S.C.; Sandra Scurry Varner (David) of Florence, S.C.; two step-children, Anne Tilton of Sumter, S.C.; Tom Wise of Cottageville, S.C.; one sister, Ethel Floyd of New Zion; two granddaughters, Lisa Watford (LaVone), Veronica McElveen and a great-granddaughter, Caroline Britt Page, a special niece, Darlene Frye. She was blessed with a large family of siblings, nieces and nephews and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Respite Care. The family also extends many thanks to relatives, neighbors, friends and the staff at Southland Health Care for their loving support.
