Mary Sue Mixon Melton, 79, of Florence, SC, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2020.  She was born in Darlington County, SC, a daughter of the late Johnny Mixon and the late Selina Sanders Mixon Meggs.  She is also predeceased by a brother, Wilson Mixon, and a sister, Sallie Hurst.

Mrs. Melton retired after 28 years of service in the cafeteria at Royal Elementary School of Florence School District 1.  She faithfully attended and helped at Truth Chapel PH Church.  She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, and loved flowers.

Surviving are her husband, Preston Ravenel Melton; son, Barry (Candace) Melton; daughter, Patricia (Keith) Harrill; granddaughter, Katherine Melton; two grandsons, Tre Harrill and Reese Harrill (to be born in October 2020); three sisters, Eva (Larry) Hendrix, Betty (Toby Gainey) Smith, and Shirley (Mike) Raines; and a brother-in-law, Harold Hurst.

A graveside service, directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home, will be held at 2:00 PM, on Thursday, October 1, 2020, at Florence Memorial Gardens.  COVID-19 protocols will be observed.
