Mary Hodge Long, 82 years young, of Florence, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, May 6, 2015. Ms. Long was born in Clarendon County, SC, a daughter of the late Phillip Hodge and Mae Belle Rogers Hodge. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Florence, SC, for approximately 40 years. In Addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her sisters, Dora Jean Hayes and Alice Calcutt. Surviving are her nieces, Mary Linda (Harry) King of Florence, Cheryl (Larry) Jackson of Florence, her nephew, Wally Calcutt of Darlington. She is also survived by many great nieces, nephews and cousins, her loving dog and companion, Annie, and a special caregiver, Terri Culick of Florence, SC. She was retired from the South Carolina Federal Government. She was not retired from a job she loved, which was teaching cake decorating classes at Hobby Lobby until right before she became too ill, where she made many friends. She was a people person and never met a stranger. She had an exceptional caring and generous heart. She spent so much of her time caring, sharing and putting her family often times above her own needs and spent her life believing in family. She loved baking, painting and spending time at Garden City Beach and Mardi Gras. She was dearly loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. She has left a big void in so many lives. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 9, 2015, in the Cain-Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 AM, prior to the service, at the funeral home and other times at the residence of Mary Linda and Harry King, 1310 Brookwood Drive, Florence, SC.
