Mary Elizabeth Lehman Singhas, 96, of Mooresville, NC, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021 in The Citadel Nursing Center in Mooresville, NC.  She was born August 1, 1925 in Charles Town, WV, the daughter of the late Harvey Hitz and Elizabeth Anne Walker Lehman.

She graduated from Charles Town High School in 1943 and resided in Charles Town for 76 years.  Mrs. Singhas helped to organize the School of Hope in Charles Town and received the Outstanding Citizen award by the Charles Town Jaycees in May of 1978.  She was a long-time member of Asbury United Methodist Church and a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church.  She worked at Bank of Charles Town, Bank of Harpers Ferry, Blakely Bank and the Charles Town Post Office.  She was married to her late husband, Charles Philip Singhas for 56 years.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by Fred M. Lehman, William A. Lehman and Harvey W. Lehman (Tuffy).

Mrs. Singhas is survived by her son, Darryl P. Singhas; her daughter, Sheila D. Dunlap; two granddaughters, Tiffany Dee Dunlap and Brittany Lee Taylor; and a great-granddaughter, Laiklyn Dunlap.

A church-led memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Pamplico, SC.  Graveside services will be held at a later date at Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles Town, WV.  Cain Calcutt Funeral Home is honored to serve the Singhas family.
