Martha Haynes Avin, 81, of Florence, SC, died on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at Carolinas Hospital System. She was born in Hyman, SC, a daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Hyman Haynes. Martha is predeceased by, in addition to her parents, her husband, Wallace L. Avin, Sr. and a brother, Edward D. Haynes. Martha was past Auxiliary President and District 6 Auxiliary President of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW of South Carolina. She was Vice President of the American Legion Auxiliary of the Physically Handicapped of South Carolina and a member of the Red Hat Society. She was a part of the "lunch group" of the Widows of Veterans of South Carolina. Martha loved being part of all of these organizations and she lived for helping Veterans and the handicapped. She loved her family and her many friends and will be greatly missed. She is survived by two sons, Wallace "Chip" Avin, Jr. of Savannah, GA, James P. "Chuck" (Debra) Avin of Darlington; one daughter, Elizabeth A. "Beth" (Terry) Anderson of Metter, GA; grandchildren, Tripp Avin, Joy Avin, Amanda Anderson, Nikki Avin, Jamie Avin and Katie Avin; step grandchildren, Michelle Brant, Mike Anderson, Max Anderson, Bubba Wadlington, Natasha Wadlington and Davey Wadlington; and step great-grandchildren, Austin Anderson, Dalton Wadlington, Christian Moore, Peyton Anderson, Kaitlynne Brant and Loni Brant. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Cain-Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 15, 2015, at Greenwood Baptist Church with burial directed by Cain-Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
