Mark Dennis Shewchuk, 55, of Florence, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026.

Mark was born in Newport, Rhode Island, the son of Sandra Knight Shewchuk and the late Jon Dennis Shewchuk. He was a graduate of Frank W. Cox High School in Virginia Beach, VA and worked for 31 years for Community Alternatives on Little Creek Amphibious Base in Norfolk, VA. Mark attended St. Anthony Catholic Church in Florence, SC. He began attending NASCAR races with his father and continued with his brother-in-law. He recently became an ownership partner in “The Race Bus”, which he and his friends used to attend the races at Darlington Raceway. He was a member of the Swamp Fox Old Car Club, and he loved to fish, enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, and attending Gamecock basketball games.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister, Michelle (Tom) Smith; niece, Caroline Smith; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at Calcutt-Dowling Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
