Obituary

FLORENCE, SC Marjorie Galloway Hastings, 93, of Florence, died Monday, March 4, 2013 in Florence, SC. She was born July 20, 1919 in Darlington County, SC. Mrs. Hastings was a member of Central United Methodist Church of Florence, SC and the Delta Kappa Gamma Sororiety. She taught school at Hartsville High School from 1940 - 1950 and McClenaghan High School in Florence, SC from 1950 - 1975 where she served as Senior Class Sponsor for years. Marjorie loved her family, friends and especially her farm heritage. She was preceded in death by her parents - Ellie Pepkin Galloway and Grace Askins Galloway; her husband - William Harold Hastings; and the mother of her nephews Barbara Galloway (J.E.) Mozingo. Survivors include: nephews - E. Bryan (Katherine) Mozingo M.D. of Columbia, SC and Eddie (Karen) Mozingo of Lamar, SC; great nieces - Grace Mozingo, Lindsay Mozingo and Lauren Mozingo; step-daughter - Dianne (Herb) Shealy of Irmo, SC; step-grandchildren - Courtney (Justin) Hart of Atlanta, GA and Paige Shealy and her husband Graham Goff of W. Columbia, SC; and a step-great-grandchild - Jackson Hart. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Methodist Manor Chapel - 2100 Twin Church Rd. Florence, SC 29501. A private entombment will precede the service at Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Central United Methodist Church - 225 W. Cheves Street Florence, SC 29501 or Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church - PO Box 56 Lydia, SC 29079.
