Maria Helena (Marlene) Vankorb Highsmith, 89, a loving mother and faithful member of her parish, passed away at home on August 1, 2025.  Born May 29, 1936, in Laufersweiler, Germany, she emigrated to the United States as a young mother, where she learned English, became an American citizen and devoted herself to raising her two children.

Marlene was always active, keeping house and working in her yard. She found great joy in spending time with friends and volunteering in her community.

She is survived by her two children, Gerald Vankorb and Michael Lavespere (Jean); two grandchildren, Bern and Brooks; and great-granddaughter Jovie.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, at St. Anne Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Martin de Porres Food Pantry care of St. Anne Catholic Church.
