Mamie Katherine Taylor Young, 87, of Effingham, SC, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at McLeod Hospice House. She was born in Milledgeville, GA. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Robert Eugene Young, her daughter in law, Lynn Carol Young, three brothers and three sisters. Katherine retired after 35 years working at the Florence County Tax Assessor's Office. She graduated with a Theological Degree from the Christian School of Theology and was a member of Abundant Life Church. She was a Prayer Warrior, loved crocheting and reading, especially her favorite book, The Bible. Katherine is survived by four sons, John (Carla) Young of Moncks Corner, Tommy Eugene Young of N. Charleston, William Truman Young of Darlington and David Ronald Young of Florence; one daughter, Patricia Ann Kinsey of Myrtle Beach; seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 12 PM on Friday, March 23, 2018, in the Chapel of Cain Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home with burial to follow at Florence National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Abundant Life Church, 3030 S. Irby Street, Florence, SC 29505.
