Obituary

Luther Ray Calcutt, 79, of Britton's Neck, SC, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024. He was born in Pamplico, a son of the late Luther James Calcutt and the late Thelma Collins Calcutt.

He is preceded in death in addition to his parents by a sister, Mary "Lib" Calcutt, three brothers, James L. "Buddy" Calcutt, W.S. "Billy" Calcutt, and George Charles Calcutt; sisters-in-law, Ann Meggs Calcutt and Peggy Calcutt; two nieces, Mary Frances Calcutt and Ginger Calcutt Williamson.

Ray served his country in the US Army and was stationed in Germany.  After his service, he worked with Delta Mills until his retirement and was the former fire chief of Pamplico and EMT for the Pamplico Rescue squad for over 25 years. He was a Deacon at Nebo Baptist Church and was also a Master Mason.  He was a quiet, honest man who loved Clemson Tiger football, fishing, mowing grass, NASCAR and talking with his friends from Bonnie's Store.  Ray was a family man who unconditionally loved his wife, daughters, grandchildren, sisters, brothers and their spouses and his church family.

Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Brenda Williams Calcutt; two daughters, Angie Calcutt and Tara Munn (Chad); two grandchildren, Josh Munn and Kristen Munn; a sister, Faye C. (Wayne) Gibbs; four brothers, Willie Joe Calcutt, Bobby G. (Sue) Calcutt, Jakie O. (Carolyn) Calcutt, Rev. Randall "Randy" L. (Alice) Calcutt; four sisters-in law, Joan Calcutt, Elizabeth Calcutt, Renea Calcutt and Carol Cribb; special cousin, Dollee Turner and her family; and numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces, great great-nephews and nieces, cousins.

A funeral service directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Nebo Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior, from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at the church.
