Florence, SC Lucille Nix Johnston, 91, of Florence, S.C., died Thursday, August 1, 2013 at The Carolinian in Florence. "Ceil" was born in Blairsville, GA., a daughter of the late Aaron Jacob and Ethel Ensley Nix. As a young child she grew up on Parris Island, SC., and married her husband as a teenager. Lucille was a housewife for her first 30 years of marriage and then began a retail sales career in El Paso, TX where she was a long time resident. She and her husband enjoyed 58 years of marriage. She loved meeting new people in her work, gardening, traveling, line dancing, playing cards and her fellowship with family and friends. Florence became her home in 2006 to be closer to family. She is predeceased by her husband, James David Johnston, Sr. Mrs. Johnston is survived by her four children: June J. Taylor (John B. Taylor), James David Johnston (Jodi), Michael E. Johnston, and Virginia J. White (Phillip C. White). Lucille's family included four sisters, eleven half-brothers and sisters, 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 9, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Cain Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service. Cain Funeral Home is assisting the family.
