Obituary

Florence, S.C. - Lisa Allison McBride died Friday, March 7, 2014, after a two year battle with Stage IV colon cancer. She leaves her husband of twenty-five (25) years David Lee McBride; mother Kay (Reighard) Allison of Florence, SC; brother Joel (Debbie) Allison of Campbell, CA; brother Kyle (Cara) Allison of Hewitt, NJ; sister Lynn (Eric) Moore of Arvada, CO; son Cameron McBride of Miami, FL; daughter Caitlin McBride of Florence, SC; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends around the United States. The oldest of what would become four children, Lisa was born in Boston, MA, and adopted by Charles and Kay Allison before being brought to Rochester, NY. She shared her father's passion for music, her mother's skill for hobbies, and both parent's love for the Lord. After she graduated high school in Ringwood, NJ, Lisa went on to earn not only her bachelor's degree, but also her master's degree of music education at Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. It was there that she met David and fell in love, and where they married shortly after both completing their education. Lisa spent most of her career in education working with grade school students (1st-5th). She started working directly after college at Bob Jones Elementary in Greenville, SC. After moving to Atlanta, GA, she transferred teaching positions to Harvest Christian Academy, before finally taking her last teaching job at Emmanuel Christian School in Hartsville, SC. She was always a favorite teacher among her students, and was well-liked and respected by all her peers. After withdrawing from the private school system, Lisa homeschooled Cameron and Caitlin for many years. Lisa was a member of First Baptist Church. She worked full-time in the office as an ministry assistant, helped with Vacation Bible School and the Music & Art Camp, and was active in many of the church's activities, both in the planning and participation. When she was not busy at church, Lisa enjoyed reading, playing the piano, and skiing. She was also proficient in sewing, cooking, and baking, and used her talents on a daily basis for others. She had a true voice for singing and sang with the Masterworks Choir, the Florence Little Theater, and Seraph Song, as well as the First Baptist Church choir. In addition to being a soloist, she also sang duets with her father Charles. Although she always gave glory to the Lord while singing, many people could always recognize her voice standing out above the rest. In addition to singing traditional church and Christian music, Lisa also enjoyed Broadway, musical, and showtune music. An open memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Florence on Saturday, March 15, at 11:00 in the morning. Pastor Daniel Inabinet will preside over the service, with visitation to follow at the church. There will be no graveside ceremony or service open to the public. Donations to the First Baptist Church music ministry can be made in lieu of flowers.
