Obituary

Lewis "Pete" Lee, 88, of Effingham, SC, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023.  He was born in Coward, SC, to the late Mattie and Troy Lee.  He is also predeceased by his first wife, Frances Prosser Lee, and his second wife, Glenda F. Lee; and siblings, JC Lee, Elijah Lee, Charloise Wise, Jettie Tedder and Lizzie Lee.

Pete was a veteran and served in the US Air Force during the Korean War.  He was an active member of Lebanon FWB Church since 1953 and was a member of the Men's Sunday School Class.  He was retired after 39 years from Socar, Inc.  Pete loved doing anything he could do to help the church and was one of the groundbreakers of the new church building.  He was the mechanic of the community and enjoyed fixing equipment.  Pete loved his family, and he loved all things fishing.

Surviving are his children, Dennis Hardwick, Jr. (Pamela) and DeNeen Hardwick Allen (Jim); Special Niece, Beverly Hatchell; four grandchildren, Morgan Inman Phillips (John David), Sydney Lee Hardwick, Lucas Hatchell and Zackary Hardwick; two great-grandchildren, Marissa Phillips and Jack Phillips; special family members, Michelle Allen Melton (Ty) and Kevin Allen (Amanda) and all of their children, Kimber Melton, Madelyn, Lena, Ryker and Ashyr Allen; brother-in-law, Richard Faircloth (Phyllis); and numerous other special nieces, nephews and family members.

A funeral service, directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home, will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Lebanon Free Will Baptist Church in Effingham.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 PM at the church prior to the service.  Burial will take place in the Mount Hope Cemetery following the funeral service.  The family will be meeting at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Allen, 4325 Southborough Road, Florence, SC 29501.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lebanon FWB Building Fund.
