Obituary

Leland "Red" Edward Hodge, Jr., 81, of Florence, SC, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022 at the McLeod Hospice House.  He was born in Mullins, SC, a son of the late Leland Edward Hodge and Agnus Leonora White Hodge.  He is also predeceased by his brother, Robert "Bobby" Hodge.

Red served his country as a 1st Lt. in the US Army.  He was a graduate of Mullins High School and then earned a bachelor's degree from Clemson University and worked at JP Stevens, GE and DuPont, from which he retired.  He was a very devoted husband, father and PaPa to seven grandchildren and one great grand-child.  He truly loved his family with all of his heart.  Red was a friend to all, always visiting the elderly and devoted his time to Meals on Wheels and visiting nursing homes.  He enjoyed his time outdoors, hunting, fishing, golfing and he treasured living on Forest Lake.  In his earlier days, he loved to cut the rug and shag, he had very fond memories with family and friends of the beach and the Florence Shag Club.  He was very involved in the community and especially enjoyed working with students through the Jr. Achievement program.  He was a Master Mason with Hampton Lodge #204.  Red was a long-time member of All Saints Church where he was active in the men's club and more importantly enjoyed worshiping with his friends and family.

Surviving is his wife of 41 years, Iris Langston Hodge; son, Joe Hildebran; daughters, Kelly Barr (Tony), Susan Schott (Derek) and Priscilla Calcutt (Kenneth); seven grandchildren, Brittany Barr Enfinger, Clayton Barr, Hannah Schott, Sarah Calcutt, Austin Schott, Allie Schott and Charlie Calcutt and one great-grandchild, Presleigh Enfinger.

A Celebration of Life, directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, July 15, 2022 at All Saints Anglican Church.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 PM at the church prior to the service.  Inurnment will take place at 2:00 PM in the Florence National Cemetery.
