Florence, SC Lawrence C. "Larry" McMillian, 72, of Florence, S.C., passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, S.C. He was born in Florence, S.C., a son of the late Walter and Nell Camlin McMillian. Up until his recent illnesses, Larry enjoyed life very much. He was personable, had a dry wit and led a full and adventurous life. He loved watching sports, especially the Little League and Pony League games at a nearby park in Florence. He was an accomplished player in his youth, and pitched several no-hitter games in Fayetteville, N.C. Little League. He was said to have been a renowned pool player and also city marble champion in Fayetteville. Larry is predeceased by his parents, a son, Lawrence C. McMillian, Jr. and a brother, Paul Wood, Jr. He is survived by a daughter, Kelly Pearce of Ardmore, OK; three sisters, Kathy Aaron of Blythewood, S.C.; Dinah Henry of Burbank, CA; Marian "Bootsie" Shank of Broadway, VA; one brother, Joseph Wood of Fayetteville, N.C.; two grandchildren, Kylee and Brooks Pearce. The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors and caregivers at McLeod Regional Medical Center and McLeod Hospice of Florence for their loving kindness and care during this time in our life. A private service will be held at a later date in Columbia, S.C. Memorials may be made to McLeod Hospice.
