A memorial service for Mr. Kenneth Anthony Jr., husband of Jerra Brown Anthony, will be at 5:00 PM, Saturday May 15, 2010, in Cain Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. Doyle Jones. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to Oakdale Baptist Church 3760 Southborough Rd. Florence, Sc 29501. Mr. Anthony, 79, died May 13, 2010, in a local healthcare facility. He was born November 20, 1930, in Templeton, PA, to the late Kenneth Isaiah and Goldie Emory Anthony. Mr. Anthony was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Alverda Beatty, Blanche Baldwin, and Jean Mateer. Kenneth was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church where he loved to sing in the choir, and was active in other offices of the church. He loved to spend time with family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his four-legged companions, Izzy, Scooter, Ike, Cesar, Coco and Storm. He was an avid fisherman and loved riding his Harley. Kenneth served his country aboard the USS Alamo and USS Charles R. Ware, and represented his country in Vietnam, and the Korean War. He retired from the Navy after 20 years of faithful service honorably. Surviving in addition to his wife are: sons, Kenneth Blaire (Susan) Anthony of Timmonsville, Jeffrey Anthony of Kiln, MS, and Bradley (Donna) Anthony of Dallas, NC; daughters, Debra (Nelson) Melton of Florence, Denise (Rick) Mauney of Charlotte, NC, and Robin (Maxie) Williamson of Florence; brothers, Gerald P. (Edie) Anthony of Mercer, PA, Larry J. (Joann) Anthony of Jensen Beach, FL, and John R. (Shirley) Anthony of Florence; sisters, Peggy (Gene) Johnson of Edinburg, PA, and Patty (Ronnie) Cupp of New Middletown, PA; sister-in-law, Judy Curtisof Florence; special niece, Kathy Whitesell of Scotland; 14 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
