Karl Christian Maria Kapfinger, 74, of Lynchburg, SC, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022.  He was born in Kufstein, Austria, the son of the late Karl Kapfinger and Maria Gasser.  He is also predeceased by a step-son, Larry Wesley Matthews, Jr.

Karl served in the Austrian Army as a sharp shooter and competed in biathlons.  He worked as an engineer with the Zima Corporation, which brought him to the United States.  He was a tool smith and he also worked at Merita Bread Company and with ESAB.  He was a supporter of A.A.

Karl is survived by his wife of 32 years, Linda Rae Kapfinger; two sons, Wolfgang Gasser and Karl Kapfinger III (Tiffani); step-daughter, Kathy Johnson; step-son, Ladson Ray Matthews; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Cain Calcutt Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
