Florence, SC Josephine Sutler Coyle, 99, of Florence, SC, died on December 10, 2013. Jo was born on October 14, 1914, in Charlottesville, Virginia, a daughter of the late Richard Austin and Lillian Hoy Sutler. She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas Gardner Coyle. She survived all of her Sutler brothers, Bernard, Carl, Robert "Bud", and Richard "Bill", as well as her sister, Frances "Dot" Bransford. Her granddaughter, Ann Marie Coyle Coakley also preceded her in death. Jo is survived by a son, John, and his wife Betty, of Linville, VA; grandsons Stephen Douglas Coyle of Raleigh, NC, and John Edward Coyle of Linville, VA; two great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter, and one great-great-grandson; niece Carla (Mike) Guthrie of Charleston; and several other nieces and nephews and their families. Jo graduated from Charleston High School in 1932. She worked for Coyle and Richardson Department Store where she met he husband, Doug Coyle. They moved to Inwood, WV, with their son, John in 1947. Jo worked for Musselman's and later as a seamstress for her dear friend, Mrs. O'Connor. Jo and Doug became devoted members of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Charles Town, WV, where they formed an enduring friendship with Rick and Joan Randall. In the last few years, the Randalls were Jo's surrogate family, taking her into their home and lovingly caring for her. Our family is very grateful to them. We loved her dearly and she will be missed. A memorial service is scheduled for 1:00 on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Florence, SC. Her inurnment will follow on Thursday, December 19, 2013, in Shepherdstown, WV.
