John Morris Wagner, 92, of Darlington, SC, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at the Presbyterian Home in Florence. John was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, a son of the late Margaret Ann and Morris Wagner. John served in the US Army during World War II and in the Korean War, where he received the Bronze Star. He worked for many years as an electrical engineer with the federal government. He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Brown Wagner; two step daughters, Frances W. Willis of Florence and Margaret "Pete" (Kenny) Gadley of Coward; three grandchildren, several great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service, directed by Cain Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home, will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 23, 2016 at the Bethea Baptist Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:00 AM, just prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Home of SC, 2350 W. Lucas St., Florence, SC 29501.
