Florence, SC John Henry Tyler, Sr., of Florence, SC, died on Wednesday, December 25, 2013, at McLeod Regional Medical Center. John was born in Ridgeland, SC, a son of the late John H and Queen Esther Cheneyfield Tyler, he was one of 8 children, and was predeceased by 3 sisters and 2 brothers. John earned his Bachelors of Science at Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA, and continued his education at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. He worked in television and radio broadcasting management for close to 40 years. John married Queen Esther on June 11, 1962 in Atlanta, GA, and they lived in Chicago for around 40 years before moving back to SC. John dedicated himself as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1988 and used his time volunteering on the Regional Building Committee. He Auxiliary Pioneered and was very supportive to his brothers and sisters in the full time pioneer ministry. He was also an Elder in the congregation. John is survived by his wife, Queen Esther Neal Tyler of Florence, SC; sons, John H. (Angela) Tyler, Jr., Joel C. (India) Tyler, Jason A. (Jatina) Tyler and Justin N. (Ivy) Tyler; grandchildren, John S. Tyler, Jaylen N. Tyler, Janelle A. Tyler, Jourden N. Tyler, Jaishon N. Tyler, Journey N. Tyler, Justin N. Tyler, Jr., Jaaniyah N. Tyler, Jayla N. Tyler, Jayden N. Tyler, Jia N. Tyler, Jayce N. Tyler and Skylar Wilson; siblings, Henrietta Praylow and Alexander Tyler; and other nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 29, 2013, from 5:30 until 7:30 at Cain Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1215 Alligator Road, Effingham, SC, 29541. A reception will follow the service.
