A graveside service for John Paul Newsome, husband of Ursula Spalinger Newsome, will be at 11AM Monday March 31, 2008 in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6:00-8:00 at Cain Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Florence County Humane Society, Building Fund, 1007 Stockade Ave., Florence, SC 29506. Mr. Newsome, 77, of Florence, died Saturday, March 29, 2008, in local hospital. He was born September 28, 1930, in Bladenboro, NC, to the late Jonah Fletcher and Dora Thomas Newsome. He was also predeceased by a sister, Evelyn Lewis. Mr. Newsome was the owner/operator of Paul's Wrecker Service. He served in the US Marines during the Korean Conflict. He was a life long member of First Baptist Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are: son, Dale (Cynthia) Price of Florence; daughter, Paula (Barry) Babb of Timmonsville; step-sons, David C. (Diana) Price of Timmonsville and Robert G. (Phung) Smith of Rochester, NY; step-daughter, Janette A. (Tommy) Ballio of Mansfield, TX; grandchildren, Tonya, Tyler and Sylvia; eleven step-grandchildren; great grandchild, Marion; three step-great grandchildren; sisters, Pauline (Angus) DeBerry of Pamplico and Mildred Byrd of Florence; brother, Parks Newsome of Florence.
