Florence, SC John Lewis Meggs, 66, of Florence, S.C., died Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at McLeod Regional Medical Center. He was born in Marion, S.C., a son of the late Harvey Lewis and Dorothy Jones Meggs. John served in the National Guard and worked as a South Carolina State Trooper. He retired from Wilco-Hess where he worked as a truck driver. John was a member of the Mecca Masonic Lodge #407, and was also a member of the Omar Shriners. John is predeceased by 2 wives, Carolyn Floyd Meggs and Faye Brown Meggs, and a sister, Joy Lynn Hubbard. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Clark Meggs of Florence, S.C.; sons, Richie (Sharon) Meggs, Michael (Beth) Meggs, John Meggs and Bradley (Kristen) Gerald, and daughter, Harriett Vance, and 20 grandchildren, all of Florence, SC. John is also survived by his beloved companion, Harley. Visitation will be held at Cain Funeral Home on Thursady, October 17, 2013, from 6 - 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 18, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Cain Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens.
