A Memorial service for John Anderson Martin will be 1:00PM Saturday, January 10, 2009 in the Chapel of First Baptist Church, 104 E. Home Avenue, conducted by Pastor Ryan Goodroe. Cain Funeral Home, Florence is assisting the family. Mr. Martin, 53, died January 3, 2009, at the home of his sister, Lee Martin, in Hartsville. He was born August 21, 1955, in Red Bank, NJ, the son of the late George Davis, Sr. and June Anderson Martin. He later moved with his family to Towson, MD and graduated from the University of Maryland, with a degree in electrical engineering. He then moved to Seattle, WA, where he worked for the Boeing Corp. for several years. Until his recent illness, Mr. Martin worked as an independent software engineer/programmer/analyst, holding positions throughout the U. S. Surviving, in addition to his sister, are his brother, Dr. George (Joanie) Martin of Wilmington, NC; niece, Alyssa Martin of Charlotte; nephews, LCDR Joshua Martin, USN, Daniel Farmer of Myrtle Beach, and Brian (Meredith) Farmer; and grand-niece, Stella, of Hilton Head, SC. A special thanks is extended to McLeod Hospital and Hospice, for their care of Mr. Martin during his illness.
