John M. "Jack" Hesley, Jr., of Florence, SC, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late John M. Hesley, Sr. and Ruth Alexander Work Hesley. He is also preceded in death by a brother, David Todd Hesley. Jack served in the United States Army from 1969 until 1971, spending 10 months in Southeast Asia in the 1st Calvary, Air Mobile Division. He was awarded two Bronze Stars and a Silver Star for valor. Subsequently, Jack graduated from Pfeiffer University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics. He was self-employed as a franchise owner of a Matco Tools Distributorship. Jack is survived by his wife, Linda Helms Hesley; children, John Samuel "Sam" (Nilla) Hesley of Bluffton, SC, Joshua David (Meghan) Hesley of Columbia, SC, and Elizabeth Alexander Hesley of Florence, SC; four grandchildren, Sarah Cate Hesley, Nilla Perry Hesley, Emory Pate Hesley and Hannon Wade Hesley; brothers, James Edward Hesley of Albemarle, NC, Christopher Thomas (Sandy) Hesley of Albemarle, NC; and a sister, Judith (David) Hesley Toney of Forest City, NC. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 21, 2017, in the Cain Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel.
