A memorial service for Mr. John Clifton Duke, Jr., husband of the late Martha T. Duke will be at 2 PM, Sunday, February 1, 2009, in Cain Funeral Home Chapel. The services will be conducted by the Rev. Will Malambri. Mr. Duke, 76, of Florence, died Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at his residence. He was born April 7, 1932, in Suffolk, VA, to the late John Clifton and Nellie Pierce Duke, Sr. He was predeceased by a brother, Beverly Duke. He attended Central United Methodist Church in Florence. Mr. Duke was a Member of the V.F.W. in Florence, and a Member of the Moose Lodge in Suffolk, VA. Among his survivors are: son, Kevin Duke of France; daughter, Sharon Duke of France; sisters, Nell Thacker of Smithfield, VA, and Nancy D. Baines of Suffolk, VA; special friend, Jo Owens of Florence; three grandchildren; and several nephews.
