Obituary

A memorial service for Mr. John Mylie Castello, widower of Mary Ann Wolynetz Castello will be at 5:00PM Saturday April 17, 2010 in St. Luke Lutheran Church conducted by Pastor Jeffrey Shealy. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 4:00-5:00PM, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church 1201 Cherokee Road Florence, SC 29501. Mr. Castello, 74, died March 11, 2010, in a local healthcare facility. He was born April 17, 1935, in Houston, TX, to the late John Castello and Georgia Mae Jones Castello Els. He was also predeceased by his infant son, James Leon Castello; sister, Loyce Rapsilver; and brother, Ronnie Castello. Mr. Castello was a graduate of SMU. He started a career as a mechanical engineer with DuPont in Orange, TX and was then transferred to Florence. He was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, where he was a Stephen Minister, member of the Lutheran Men's Organization and a leader of Webelos Boy Scout Troop Pack 498. He was also a volunteer for the Manna House, helped with lots of other service organizations and was a member of the DuPont retiree's club Survivors include: daughter, Leslie Diane Castello of Florence; sons, Keith Castello of Columbia, and Eric (Cathie) Castello of Colorado Springs, CO; sister, Joyce Estes of Nacogdoches, TX; grandchildren, Anthony Castello, Cody Castello, Trevor Castello, Madison Castello, Dagen Castello, and Rory Castello; and several nieces and nephews.
