John Herbert Burke, 64, of Florence, S.C. died Thursday, November 17, 2011 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence. Mr. Burke was born in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Anna Mae Pack and the late John E. Burke. John relocated his family to the Florence area in 1979. He worked with Cameron & Barkley for thirty years. Once in Florence, he became an active member of St. Ann Catholic Church and The Swamp Fox Saddle Club. He enjoyed horseback riding, boating, shagging, the Carolina coast, and also spending time with his friends and family. He is predeceased by his father, his wife, Susan Jacobs Burke, and step-mother, Ruth Burke. He is survived by his mother, two sons, Matt Burke (Martha) of Brittons Neck, S.C. and Kevin Burke of Florence, S.C.; and one brother, Michael Burke (Lois) of Orland Park, Illinois. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 20, 2011 from 6-8:00 P.M. at Cain Funeral Home. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 21, 2011 at St Anthony Catholic Church at 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens.
