Jimmie Baxley Kennedy died at home on Tuesday October 20. She was preceded in death by her parents. Jimmie was born January 10, 1940, in Mullins, SC, to James and Bonnie Baxley. She attended McKenzie Elementary School and Florence High School up to the 12th grade, completing her education at Greenville High School, Greenville, SC. She married Tom Kennedy in 1958 and they lived in South Carolina, Florida and Tennessee. In the 1970's Jimmie moved to Pasadena, Maryland. She worked for a Helicopter Service C&P Airways in Baltimore, and later became a floral designer, working for several florists in the area. She met her soul mate, Jim Bailey, who died in 1993. She returned to Florence, SC, in 1999, and continued working as a floral designer. Her survivors include her daughter, Ashley Kennedy, and grandson Rhett of the home; her son Tal Kennedy and wife Nicki, grandsons Justin and Michael of Birmingham, Alabama. Also surviving is her brother Jerry Baxley, and wife Diane, of Myrtle Beach, nieces Jennifer, Elizabeth and nephew Paul. A funeral service for Jimmie will be held in the chapel of Cain-Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home, 512 W. 2nd Loop Road, Florence, SC, 29505 on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 2:00 PM, followed by burial at Mt. Hope Cemetery, directed by Cain-Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 PM.
