Jessica Joyce Rowell, 48, of Florence, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

Affectionately called Joyce, she was born in Darlington, SC a daughter of Jessie Rowell and the late Brenda Miller Wallace. She was in the Honor Society in High School, loved to read, and was very intelligent. Joyce was a beloved employee at IHOP for several years before returning to school to become a CNA. Having worked with the elderly many times, she showed how much she cared for people. She was employed with McLeod Regional Medical Center and later with Blue Cross Blue Shield of SC. Joyce, “Juicy” to her close friends, had many interests and especially loved horror movies, Marvel, and even anime (inspired by her daughter). Joyce had a big, loving personality. She was very outgoing and talkative, but also an attentive listener. The only things she loved almost as much as her children, was her signature burgundy hair, the color pink, Betty Boop, and most of all, Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh. She will be remembered as a good mom and irreplaceable spirit.

She was preceded in death by her mom, and by her close friend, Sheila “Cookie” McKinzey.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her son, JaShaun Rowell; daughters, Jazmyn Rowell and Janel Shavers; brothers, Jamie Rowell, Zach Wallace, and Travis (Betsy) Rowell; and sister, Casey Tomlinson; close cousin and built in best friend, Shannon Rowell Ward.

A Celebration of Life service will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at Calcutt-Dowling Funeral Home.
