Jesse Thomas Perkins Jr

SFC Jesse Thomas Perkins, Jr., (US Army Retired), 79, of Effingham, SC passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.

Mr. Perkins was born in Mullins, SC a son of the late Jesse Thomas Perkins, Sr. and Mamie Gandy Perkins. He retired from the US Army having served in Vietnam. He also retired from Francis Marion University as the Facilities Manager. Jesse loved his family, fishing, and wood and metal working, everything with his hands.

In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Patillo Perkins; son-in-law, Dennis Bullard; and brothers, Johnny Perkins and Tony Perkins.

Surviving are his children, Robert Lee (Lana) Perkins, Jesse Thomas Perkins, III, Angela Marie (Michael) Perdue, Leslie Perkins Bullard, David Bruce Perkins, Timothy Daniel (Kara) Perkins, Jessica Leigh Perkins, Jacob Randall Perkins; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Florence Area Humane Society, www.florencehumanesociety.org.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at Calcutt-Dowling Funeral Home with funeral services to be held at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in the Florence National Cemetery with full military honors.
