Jerry L. "Buddy" DeWitt, 79, of Pamplico, S.C., passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 27, 2014 at Heritage Home of Florence after a long illness. Buddy was born in Pamplico, S.C. a son of the late Foster Leviticus and Ruby Taylor DeWitt. He was a member of Pamplico Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a loving husband and father. He is predeceased by his first wife, Betty DeWitt, three brothers, Howard DeWitt, E.W. DeWitt, David Hyman, Jr. and one sister, Addie Mae Thornton. Mr. DeWitt is survived by his wife, Mildred Jones DeWitt; two daughters, Debbie Burkhart (Jeff) of Charleston, S.C.; Cheryl Hyman (Tony) of Pamplico, S.C.; two brothers, Otis L. DeWitt of Darlington, S.C.; Curtis E. DeWitt of Pamplico, S.C.; two sisters, Sarah Barnhart-Rowe of Charleston, S.C.; Donna T. Cook of Pamplico, S.C.; four step-children, Linda Williams, Elizabeth Cox, Sue Lolley and Richard Jones; two grandchildren, Brittany and Brandon Hyman. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 30, 2014 from 3-5:00 P.M. at Cain Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 1, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Pamplico Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow at Woodside Cemetery in Pamplico directed by Cain Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to your local Alzheimer's Association.
