Jeanne C. "Connie" Hazard, 84, of Florence, formerly of Pawleys Island, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the McLeod Hospice House. Mrs. Hazard was born in Media, PA, a daughter of the late Joseph Sheeler and Jeanne Garrison Bateman. She was a member of Pawleys Island Community Church. Connie was a Master's Bridge Player, an avid golfer, and loved to dance. She loved dancing so much that she wanted a celebration of her life where everyone was happy singing and dancing. Connie was an exceptional lady who never met a stranger and could light up the room as soon as she entered it. She is preceded in death in addition to her parents by her loving husband, Richard Fay Hazard, a brother, Joseph Bateman, and a sister, Virginia Longhurst. Surviving are two daughters, Ginny (Richard) Cook of Cleveland, GA and Lynda (John) Browning of Florence; five grandchildren, Shawn (Robert) Connell, Ginny (Andrew) Mazzoni, Richard Sammt, Lynda Oliver, and Bobby Browning; five great-grandchildren; and countless other people who loved and adored her. A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 4, 2014 creekside at south end Pawleys Island. Cain Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to the Florence Area Humane Society, 1434 S McCurdy Rd, Florence, SC 29506.
