Jeanette McGee Parker, 89, of Florence, peacefully passed away after an extended illness on Monday, September 28, 2026.

Mrs. Parker was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson McGee and Blanche Evans McGee. She was born and raised in Coward, South Carolina and was a graduate of JC Lynch High School. She met the love of her life, James Carl Parker on a blind date, and soon married on December 24, 1955. They lived in Evergreen, South Carolina where they raised their family and attended Evergreen Baptist Church. They later moved to Florence to enjoy living closer to their other family members.

Her family was her greatest source of joy and pride. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved them fiercely, worried over them, fed them well, and took enormous pride in each of them. Known for her lively, friendly personality and fun wit, Jeanette had a larger-than-life presence. She loved to laugh, enjoyed being around people, and brought an unmistakable warmth and energy wherever she went.

She loved gardening and working in her yard and always enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She loved fashion and was always dressed to a tee. She also loved fishing with her sister at the lake house at Santee, and later enjoyed many happy summer weekends with family at Murrells Inlet. Grandma's house was always a warm and loving place, made perfect by the smell of something good cooking, plenty of laughter, and the feeling that you were exactly where you belonged. Mainly, you always felt loved!

She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years; her parents; siblings, Hazel McGee Collins, Andrew Jackson McGee, Jr., Fannie Mae Flowers, Ralph LaVault McGee, Doris McGee Hicks, and Hubert Winston McGee; and her two precious grandsons, James Carl “Jace” Parker, Ill, and John James Parker.

She is survived by her son, James Carl Parker, Jr.; daughter, Alisa Parker McMillen (Mark); her grandchildren, Mark Frank McMillen, Jr. (Lauren), Alison McMillen Dyer (Joe), James Carl McMillen (Meghan), and Jackson Clark Parker (Kaylee); her great-grandchildren, Mark Frank McMillen III, Madelyn James Dyer, Natalie Jeane Dyer, Parker Patterson McMillen, and Georgia James McMillen.

A special thank you to her devoted caregivers, Deloris, Evelyn, Wanda, and Zandra. They have been a blessing and a comfort to her and her family in the last few months.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 2, 2026 at Mount Hope Cemetery in Florence, South Carolina.
