Obituary

It is with great sadness and joy that we announce the passing of Jaye Lynn Ellis, who was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on May 2, 2026. She died peacefully at home. Jaye was a person of great faith and service, living her life as a personal testimony to the glory of God.

Jaye Lynn was born to loving parents, Jay and Carolyn Pyles at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Palm Beach, FL on February 19, 1952. Honored academically throughout her school years, she was an alumna of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She married Jim Ellis of Florence, SC during Christmas of 1987, and together they founded Genesis Nutrition and were blessed with a life of great love, peace, and philanthropy. In her later years, she volunteered at Carolinas Hospital in Florence, now MUSC.

Jaye Lynn is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jim; and half-sister, Doris Ann Cruz.

She is survived by her sister, Jeanne Pyles Stancil; a sister through Christ, Donna Stephens; and two poodles, Josh and Jake, whom she called her children.

We extend heartfelt gratitude to those personal friends who became caregivers for her: Sabrina Chavis and Dina McFarland. Also, to Dr. Dozier and staff, Cora and Allen Rowe and staff; Agape Hospice; and the multitude of others who lifted her in prayer.

Those who desire to send flowers are instead asked to remember your favorite charities in her name. Her favorites included Kenneth Copeland Ministries and the Florence Humane Society, PO Box 4808, Florence, SC 29502.

Jaye Lynn leaves a legacy of faith. We find peace in the knowledge that nobody but God could love her more. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:21
