Janie Wilson Sheriff, 97, of Florence, SC, went home to be with her Savior on April 19, 2023.  She was born to Viola and Ellic Wilson on March 12, 1926.  She retired from Florence School District 1 in June of 1991.  Janie was a member of Christian Assembly Church which is now Compassion Church.  Janie initiated and managed God's Pantry for 7 years at Christian Assembly which gave her great pleasure to care for the poor, the needy and the hungry.  This was her ministry.

Janie is predeceased by her son, Randy Smith of Gresham, SC and her husband, Don Sheriff of Florence, SC.  Surviving is her son, Wally (Dianne) Smith of Sunset, SC and her daughter, Debby Bosley of Florence, SC.  She has six grandchildren.

A funeral service, directed by Cain Calcutt Funeral Home, will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Friendship Baptist Church in Gresham, SC.  Burial will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:00 AM prior to the service at the church.
