Mrs. Janet Turner passed away peacefully Monday, January 30, 2023; She was born Patricia Janet Tomlinson on November 24, 1939, to the late Andrew Bartow and Etta Mahaza Tomlinson.  She spent her childhood years laughing and playing with her nine brothers and sisters on their family farm in the Shiloh Community of Sumter County.  After moving to Florence County, she entered the food service industry retiring from both Southland Health Care and Florence School District 1.  She enjoyed life and spending time with her two sons and nine grandchildren.  She was a devout Christian and an active member of the Effingham Church of God; she looked forward to attending classes every Sunday with her Senior Adult Church class.

She is survived by her two sons, Bruce Jones (Mercedes) of Richmond Hill, GA., and Joel Jones (Paula) of Florence, SC., nine grandchildren: Joel Alexander Jones, Nicholas Jones, McKenzie Reese Jones, Tyler Jones, Allen Jones, Gabriel Jones, Tera Shady (Shea), Tamra Evans (Justin), Kaitlyn Watson (Phillip), ten great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Turner, five brothers, four sisters, and one grandson.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 3, 2023 in the chapel of Cain Calcutt Funeral Home with burial to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.
