A funeral service for Jane Elizabeth Helms Barringer will be at 10:00AM Wednesday September 23, 2009 in Central United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Tom Pietla and Rev. Valerie Mireb. Graveside service will be at 3:00PM in Oakwood Cemetery, Concord, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00PM Tuesday at Cain Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, 225 W. Cheves St., Florence, SC 29501 or Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 6758 Francis Marion Rd., Pamplico, SC 29583. Mrs. Barringer, 83, died September 18, 2009, in McLeod Hospice House. She was born, October 30, 1925 in Concord, NC, to the late Ralph G. and Mary Elizabeth Blackwelder Helms. Mrs. Barringer was a long time elementary school teacher in Florence School District 1 at Briggs and Royal Elementary schools. She was a 50 year member of Central United Methodist Church, the Sarah Blanton Circle, Spiritual Guidance Sunday School Class, Joy Singles, Young at Heart and the Shepherd Center. She also had served as organist for Tabernacle United Methodist and John Calvin Presbyterian Churches. Surviving are: son, Commander (USCG) Harold R. (Joanne) Barringer Jr. of East Walpole, MA; three grandchildren; brother, Jerry Helms of Harrisburg, NC.
