A funeral service for James McDoran Tharp, husband of Maxine Martin Tharp, will be at 3:00PM, Wednesday, December 17, 2008, in Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel conducted by the Rev. Wil Malambri. Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church 225 W. Cheves St. Florence, SC 29501. Cain Funeral Home is assisiting the family. Mr. Tharp, 60, died Monday, December 15, 2008, in WJ Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia. He was born July 31, 1948, in Rocky Mount, NC, to Lillian Harper Tharp and the late William M. Tharp. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church for many years. Surviving, in addition to his mother of Florence and his wife of Columbia, are: sons, John C. Tharp of Winston Salem, NC, and Christopher S. Elvington of Columbia, SC; daughter, Kathryn Roberts of Columbia, SC; and sister, Trudy Ann Tharp of Charleston, SC.
