James "Jim" Robert Vidt, 84, of Effingham, SC, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.  He was born in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of the late William C. and Flora Fincke Vidt.  He is also predeceased by his brother, Glenn Vidt.  Jim was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church and he founded the Cars & Coffee program at the church.  He loved cars and showing his antique Volkswagens.  Jim was retired from Tippins Inc. where he worked as an engineer for 27 years.  He enjoyed fixing things and keeping them running.

Surviving is his wife of 63 years, Victoria Joan Browner Vidt; his children, Wendi Schulman, Eric Vidt and Neil Vidt; two grandchildren, Nicholas Schulman (Corey Taylor), and Alexa Vidt; one great-grandchild, Michael Taylor; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A church-led memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 10, 2025 at Highland Park UMC.  The family will receive friends at the church following the service.  Cain Calcutt Funeral Home is assisting the family.
