James Phillips, 63, of Florence, SC, formerly of Dallas, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at McLeod Hospice House, peacefully surrounded by his family. James was a native Texan who spent the last year and a half with his daughter and son in law in Florence, searching for his winning lottery ticket. James had never won the lottery, but James, Mindy and Troy won much more than any ticket just being together. James leaves behind his daughter, Mindy Nevells (son in law Troy) of Florence, SC; his son, Shane Wilson (wife Anastasia and children, Blake, Dayton and Alyssa) of Cypress, Texas; a sister, Susanna Davis (husband Mike) of Fayetteville, NC; and many friends. James adored being a Daddy to Mindy, and was very proud of Shane and loved the family dog, Fefe, very much. James will be remembered for his beautiful blue eyes, nonjudgmental nature and kind heart. James was kind to all that he met and lived that example.
