James Edward Pate, 76 of Scranton, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at his residence. Mr. Pate was born in Florence, SC, a son of the late James and Elsie Mae Lee Pate. He was a man of God who was formerly a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and most recent a member of the Evangelistic Deliverance Ministries. He is preceded in death in addition to his parents, by a granddaughter, Cherish Pate and her daughter, Malaiya Hanna; two brothers, John Wayne Pate and Shuler Pate; and a sister, Iris Lynch. Surviving are his three daughters, Teresa (Rick) White and Mimie (Jerry) Williams both of Scranton and Sylvia (Irone) Hines of Conway; eight grandchildren, Christopher (Holly) White of Charleston, Tedric (Breeze) Sanders, Meranda (Jason) Goodman, Jerry (Tawanna) Williams, Jonathan White, and Shamanika Sanders all of Scranton, Irene Hines of Conway, and Katelyn White of Scranton; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Martha Pate of Coward and Shirley Ann Pate of Maryland; and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 in the Chapel of Cain-Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the services.
