Florence, SC James Kinley McKenzie, Sr., 86, of Florence and Murrells Inlet, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 31, 2016. He was born in Olanta, SC. Kinley was a very loved husband, father and grandfather. He was a railroad engineer and businessman who loved woodworking. He enjoyed many hours of boating, fishing, and crabbing with his children and grandchildren. He leaves a legacy of patience and lessons of unconditional love. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Myers McKenzie, his three children; son, Captain James Kinley "Kin" (Vicki) McKenzie II of Florence and Murrells Inlet, and daughters, Kencenia McKenzie Ernst and Kimberly McKenzie (Jon) Bergrin, both of Florence; six grandchildren, Myers McKenzie-Morgan, James Kinley "Kee" McKenzie III, Kelsi McKenzie Ernst, Kendl Ruth Ernst, Kerri Erin Bergrin and Jacob Dalton Bergrin; and several brothers and sisters. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:30 PM on Sunday, April 3, 2016, at Cain Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery in Florence. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Heritage Home for their care, compassion, and love during his stay with them.
