James Theodore "Jim" Williams, 82, entered into the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 24, 2026. Born on October 1, 1943, in Ironton, Ohio, Jim lived a life marked by faith, devotion to his family, and service to others. 

As a young man, Jim was a gifted high school athlete. Following graduation, he moved to the Washington, D.C., area, where he met the love of his life, Carole Hays. The two were married for 59 wonderful years, building a legacy of faith, love, and family. 

Jim is lovingly remembered by his wife, Carole, and their three daughters: Chris (Brett) Addis, Cathi (Brad) Bochette, and Carrie (Clay) Bochette. 

He was a proud and devoted "Papaw" to seven grandchildren: Chapin (Breon) Grice, Lauren (Alex) Waldrop, Caroline (Dillon) Chancey, Ashlyn (Adam) Hill, Megan Hite, Camryn (Torin) Teaster, and Clayton Bochette. 

In 2019, Jim joyfully embraced a new title—"Boompaw"—with the arrival of his first great-grandchild. He treasured each of his seven great-grandchildren: Callan Chancey, Luca Chancey, Maverick Grice, Rowen Waldrop, Henry Hill, Hollyn Chancey, and Hayes Waldrop. They brought immeasurable joy to his later years. 

Jim is also survived by two brothers, Gary Smith and Don Smith, and four sisters: Sharon White, Jean Trittle, Janet Imes, and Linda Coyle. He leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles T. Williams and Virginia V. Williams; his sisters, Dottie Woofter, Patricia Christian, and Janice Smith; and his brother, Kenny Smith. 

Jim was self-employed for many years until his retirement in 2019. More importantly, he was a faithful servant of the Lord. A devoted member of Florence Baptist Temple since 1985, Jim faithfully served as a youth Sunday School teacher and was the Director of Ushering for more than 20 years. His quiet leadership, dependable spirit, and servant's heart impacted countless lives within his church family. 

Outside of church, Jim was an enthusiastic supporter of Florence Christian School athletics. Whether cheering from the stands or encouraging student-athletes, he faithfully supported the school and took great pride in its students and programs. 

Jim's greatest legacy was his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, his steadfast love for his family, and his commitment to serving others. He will be deeply missed but will be remembered with gratitude by all who had the privilege of knowing him. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Frank Monroe Scholarship Fund. 

A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 11:00 am with a visitation scheduled for 10:00 am at The Florence Baptist Temple.
