Florence, SC James "Shot" Hicks, 81, of Florence, SC, died on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at McLeod Hospice House. Shot was born in Pamplico, SC, a son of the late Luther and Pearl Conyers Hicks. Shot loved his family, gardening and taking care of his goats. He is survived by his wife, Margarett Hicks; a daughter, Debra (Mark) Williams of Florence; a son, James E. (Debra) Hicks, Jr. of Pamplico; five step-children, Norma (Billy) Hudson of Sumter, LaFrance (Laura) Bennett of Bishopville, Shannon Bennett of Darlington, Charrish (LeGrand) Welch of Turbeville and Cullen (Tonya) Bennett of Hartsville; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, sixteen step-grandchildren, four step-great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 22, 2014, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Cain Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at 12:00 Noon at Solid Rock Mission for Christ Church, 1415 E. Home Ave, Hartsville, SC. Entombment will follow at Mount Hope Mausoleum in Florence, SC at 2:00 PM.
