At the age of 94, I. Powell "PaPa" Woodham, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 13, 2016. He was born in Hartford, Alabama, the son of the late Ruth Powell Woodham and Willie Woodham. He served in the US Army during WWII as a paratrooper in the 17th Airborne Division, 1942 – 1945. He returned from the war and married the late Vivian Toney Woodham. They lived in Florence, SC, where he was employed by Stone Container and retired from there in 1983. His present wife, Mildred Woodham, lives in Ware Shoals, SC. He is also predeceased by his son-in-law, William Lee Parrish and a grandson, William "Bill" Hires. He is survived by his daughters, Patricia W. Pierce of Myrtle Beach, SC, who Mr. Woodham lived with for the last fifteen years, and Lydia W. Parrish of Pawleys Island, SC; grandchildren, Cathy Gouveia of Surfside Beach, SC, Melanie Parrish Handschin and her husband Joel of Jackson, WY and Anne-Marie Parrish of Concord, NC; great-grandchildren, Danielle Gouveia of Surfside Beach, SC, Carter and Nolan Handschin of Jackson, WY. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00, prior to the service at the cemetery. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, 3320 S. Cashua Drive, Florence, SC 29501. Burial will follow, directed by Cain-Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home.
