Ira Douglas “Doug” Church, 56, of Effingham, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026.

Doug was born in Florence, SC a son of the late Myra Church Jacobs. He was the manager of A&A Transmission. He loved fishing, riding his Harley, and music. Doug especially loved his grandkids and spending time with them, grilling and cooking for his family. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his sister, Vanessa Sawant.

Surviving are his wife, Lynette Matthews Church; sons, Dustin Church, Kelly (Rebecca) Church, and Lee Taylor; daughter, Elizabeth Taylor; grandchildren, Michael Church, Rylan Blue, Blakely Church, Jaxon Blue, Austin Church, Drake Flowers, Grayson Taylor, and David Taylor.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 PM Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Calcutt-Dowling Funeral Home.
