Hayes Shane, 79, of Florence, SC, died on Tuesday, October, 27, 2015, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Florence, a son of the late Robert Clay and Katherine Hayes Shane. He is also predeceased by a sister, Katherine Mitchell. Hayes was an electrical contractor who once was the chairman of the Florence County Electrical Licensing Board. He was a Master Mason with Hampton Lodge #204 AFM, and he loved drinking his early morning coffee with all of his buddies at various restaurants in town. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jean Wise Shane; son, Robert Shane of Lamar; daughters, Eleanor (Monk) Jordan of Olanta, Mary (Ben) Bryant of Kennesaw, GA, Becky (Marcel) Boggs of Florence; grandchildren, Jonathan (Jesse) Moore, Rachael Moore, Shannon Bryant, Robert Bryant, Erin Bryant, Caitlyn Harris, and Emily Boggs; great grandchild, Audrey Harris; brothers, Robert (Yoshie) Shane of Louisiana, Donald Shane of Texas and John (Elaine) Shane of Surfside, SC. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, October 30, 2015, at Cain-Calcutt-Stephens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00, prior to the service at the funeral home, at other times at the residence. Memorials may be made to Eastside Christian Church or to McLeod Hospice.
