Obituary

A graveside service for Harold Kenneth Woolley, Jr, husband of Kathryn Joan Woolley, will be at 10:00AM Tuesday December 2, 2008 in Florence National Cemetery conducted by Rev. Steve Hughes . The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 Monday at Cain Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Crimestopers of the Pee Dee, 6719 Friendfield Rd., Effingham, SC 29541 or American Cancer Society 950 48th Ave, Suite D, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577. Mr. Woolley, Jr, 75, died Friday, November 28, 2008, in Carolinas Hospital System after an extended illness. He was born January 9, 1933, in Philadelphia, PA, but grew up in Toms River, N.J. He was the only child of the late Harold K. and Anita Caldwell Woolley, Sr. Mr. Wooley was a 1st Lt. in the U.S. Air Force serving as a jet pilot from 1950 to 1962. He went on to earn his BA from Francis Marion University and his Masters(plus 30) at Vanderbilt University, while teaching there on a Fellowship. Thereafter, Mr. Wooley taught at West Florence High School from 1978 until 1992. In addition, he taught courses at Francis Marion University and Kingstree Technical College. Mr. Wooley was a member of the Board of Crimestopers of the Pee Dee and the S.C. Crimestopers Council. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are: son, Ken (Charlene) Woolley of Kingstree; daughters, Vickie Kirven of Florence and Kathy Woolley of Atlanta; six grandchildren; one great grandchild.
