Harold Edward Barfield, 73, of Scranton, SC, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021.  He was born in Lake City, SC, a son of the late Harry B. and Annie Faye Matthews Barfield.  He is also predeceased by a brother, Mickey Barfield.

Mr. Barfield served his country in the US Marine Corp during Vietnam.  He retired after working for 45 years as meat cutter and market manager for BI-LO.  After retirement, he found joy in woodworking and repurposing scrap wood to make flower boxes for others.  He loved gardening and was known for his summer garden and his hot house peppers.

Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Sandra Delilah Ward Barfield; children, Jason Barfield (Heather), Jamie Suter (Brad) and Jared Barfield (Heather); seven grandchildren, Victoria and Gabrielle Barfield, Jaylee, Cambria and Cheyenne Barfield, and Robert and Layla Suter; two brothers, Ray Barfield and Bradley Barfield (Susan); sister, Peggy McKenzie (Pat); a number of nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Raylene Ward; and special neighbors, Mary and Bobby Moore.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.  Cain Calcutt Funeral Home is honored to serve the Barfield family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
