A funeral service for Gloria Maureen Hills Gessert, wife of Milton G. Gessert will be at 1:00PM today in the Lutheran Church of the Incarnate Word, conducted by Rev. Matthew K. Jeffords. Interment at 10:00AM, Wednesday in Florence National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Church of the Incarnate Word, 1900 Second Loop Rd., Florence, SC 29505. Mrs. Gessert, 77, died Saturday, December 20, 2008, in a local hospital. She was born June 8, 1931, in North Fond Du Lac, WI, to the late Maurice W. and Edith Wallander Hills. She was also predeceased by brothers, Kenneth, Gordon, Morris and James Hills; and sister Myrna Hoops. Mrs. Gessert was a graduate of St Peters Lutheran School and Winnego Academy of Fond du Lac and Theda-Clark Nurses Training, class of 1953. She was also an accomplished artist and a devoted member of the Lutheran Church of the Incarnate Word. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are: daughter, Lynnette (Jerry) Gessert-Nograsek of Charlotte, NC; sons, James M Gessert and Jay M. Gessert both of Florence; granddaughter, Joy Gessert of Greenville, SC.
